Sidsel Storm - Storm And Stillness (Album)
Vocalist Sidsel Storm will be releasing her debut album of the same name, on Calibrated Records. It's no exaggeration to say expectations are high, because the young singer, along with her excellent band, have already made quite an impression on the Danish jazz scene. One of Sidsel's four original compositions on Sidsel Storm is called "Fall in NYC", written during a lengthy stay in the metropolis. Listening to it is almost like being there yourself. In every tone of this beautiful number you can sense the particular light, the autumn leaves, the sounds and smells of a stroll through The Village, Central Park, or across the Brooklyn Bridge. You really feel how New York took Sidsel, yes, by storm.

Masayo Yoshida - All I Need / Thinking Of You (Albums)
MASAYO YOSHIDA is a jazz and pop influenced singer-songwriter who has been very successful in her singing career in Japan, Europe, Canada, and the U.S.A. Her previous album ‘After-That’ released through Jupiter Records in Japan received rave reviews and led to many concert and club appearances. We are proud to present her new albums ‘All I need’ and ‘Thinking of you’.

Sara Grabow - Rude, Unbending & Lusty (Album)
29 year-old Sara Grabow has for many years been a part of the vibrant Danish music scene with her melodious music, inspired by Joni Mitchell, Carol King and Beatles, embedded with humorous texts and her clear epical vocal. In October 2007 Grabow released her second album called “Rude, Unbending & Lusty”. Personal feelings helped the Danish singer/songwriter Sara Grabow write the numbers on her new album Rude, Unbending & Lusty, songs about the end of a five-year relationship. And feelings are what made this critic enjoy the evening’s intimate concert in Aarup. I left the concert sensing two things. One: the relaxed satisfaction that follows after having been given the shivers, and two: disappointment over the rather short set list that mostly included numbers from her new album, and only two from last year’s Blueberries. Sara Grabow brought along her three-man band to what was her first concert on Fynen. Still, she began by playing solo on “Interlude”. And even though the guitar seemed huge next to the little, blond-haired vocalist, nobody was in doubt, listening to her finger work and the flawless, clear vocals, as to whom was in charge. Sara Grabow plays both acoustic and electric guitar, but Søren Bigum was clearly the guitar equilibrist of the evening with his plaintive and aggressive solos on “Turning Point”, “The Oak Tree” and “Green” … “Before The Storm”, which is about a lovers’ quarrel, was an example of Grabow’s deep empathy with the music, as well as the distended “Americana style” that the band represents. Thus there was space for absorption and low-key expression on songs like “Oak Tree” (inspired by Walt Whitman) as well as expansion, energy and rock ‘n’ roll on “Before The Storm” and “Green”, where Grabow not only reached the high notes, but the enthusiastic audience as well.

Alice Sings - The Petterson Songbook (Album)
Out on Sonet Records, indie pop meets cabaret and jazz on one of the most remarkable Danish debut albums of a very long time. The talented songwriter/composer Mikkel Petterson combines 30s Broadway, 60s L.A. and pop music of the 70s to set up a vigorous cocktail party with singer Alice Carreri as the carismatic center of attention.

Ron Kaplan - High Standards / Dedicated (Albums)

Betty Johnson - A Family Affair (Album)
When Betty Johnson returned to the limelight in 1993 after a thirty-year pause, she reminded America that she had come from a singing-family tradition. A Family Affair, the first release of new Betty Johnson material after her comeback, featured prominently her daughters Lydia and Elisabeth. Professional singers in their own right, their lovely and sophisticated voices left no doubt that they dwelt vibrantly in the Johnson Family realm. It was natural that Betty Johnson featured her daughters on the album as Betty herself had sung in a family fold as a child. Betty first touched audiences in the late 1930s and 1940s as a member of the popular Johnson Family Singers. Throughout the South and beyond, the Family sang sacred music with unchained enthusiasm, becoming one of the most popular family acts of the era. In A Family Affair, Betty has carried on the tradition, bringing the Johnson Family sound into its seventh decade. Highlights from this collection include “The Very Thought of You,” “Today I Love Everybody,” and “How Deep is the Ocean” (which Betty sang on Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts in the early 1950s).

Lydia Gray - In My Eyes (Album)
Lydia Gray brings an intimate setting to the covers of pop tunes from the 60's through the 90's with a crystal clear voice and warm instrumentation using guitar, drums and cello. Although from a jazz heritage (her Mom is Betty Johnson of Tonight Show fame) in this CD, Ms. Gray infuses this jazz sensibility and modern sound in a Diana Krall/Norah Jones approach - minial arrangements and mellow vocals.

Hanna Hais - I Love America (Single)
A remake of the classic! Hanna’s vocal excursions typically have a commercial edge, but for this one Rio’s finest, DJ Meme, opts for the full-on Tom Moulton Philly disco treatment complete with proper strings, horns and, well, the entire orchestra. Patrick Juvet’s disco nugget was, of course, the track that launched Full Intention back in the ‘90s but Meme’s smooth, glossy production is a very different take from Full Intention’s proto filtered disco groove, and Hais’ equally polished tones put this squarely in the beach/poolside/pre and after-party category.

This project was born from the join effort of Haldo and Checco Bascia’, who after meeting, decided to do a project that consisted of various tracks, although different among them, share a common elegance, passion, melody, and are a mixture of lounge, deep electro and afro. Perfect to be played in the ‘chiringitos’ of Ibiza on the beach or in clubs that play deep or minimal electro. In other words it is all that which one would call ‘non-commercial’.
